Dressing for work can be a tricky business, but when done right, jewelry can be the perfect way to improve and enhance your office style.

Below are 3 tips for wearing jewelry to work:

Avoid Long Earrings

The primary argument against long, dangling earrings is that they are distracting, both for the wearer and for co-workers. Longer earrings are also dangerous in some professions where women handle machinery or things that might snag the earrings and damage the earlobe. Earrings that dangle can also be loud, making jangling noises whenever the wearer moves. A shorter pair of earrings is often best, though some drop is acceptable. A conservative pair of diamond stud earrings is a necessity for a basic work outfit. Simple pearl earrings are also a good staple to own for working women. Source: eBay

Consider One Bold Piece

It's easy to style up your favorite dress without going overboard, Danielle and Jodi Snyder, the sisters who founded jewelry company Dannijo, told Business Insider. "Use bohemian-style jewelry, like a bib or statement cuff," Danielle told us. This will help take your outfit to the next level. Source: Businessinsider

Go-To-Basics

When I was working my go-to basics were my diamond huggie earrings or tiny sterling silver huggie earrings, my stainless steel watch, and my pearls.  I would intersperse those with a few other earrings, a variety of pendant necklaces, and a variety of statement necklaces.  I’m not saying this is an amazing collection of jewelry, but I think it can be helpful to see concrete examples of what’s worked for one woman.  It’s funny, looking at them the same colors repeat:  white, blue, red, which is a bit of a surprise — I hadn’t intended that!  But I know that blue and red both flatter my coloring, and they’re easily mixed and matched with other pieces of my wardrobe. Wearing Jewelry

Jewelry is worn by millions of people every day, but few recognize how they can preserve their treasures by using some simple advanced planning and thought. Here are some basic guidelines to consider when wearing jewelry:

* Remove Jewelry During Tasks – When performing manual tasks, remove your jewelry to prevent physical damage or exposure to chemicals or cleaning fluids.

* Put Jewelry On After Applying Makeup – Cosmetics, hairspray, perfumes and lotion can contain chemicals that can often damage jewelry.

* Don't Wear Jewelry in Swimming Pools and Spas – Chlorinated water can react with the metals found in jewelry causing color changes and even structural damage

* Contact Sports and Jewelry Don't Mix– Hard blows during sports can damage jewelry not to mention the people involved. Source: Zales

Cleaning Jewelry

* Follow the instructions appearing on the label or box.

* Clean in a secure location, not the rim of a sink where a piece may slip down the drain.

* Use only a soft brush, never sharp or hard objects, to remove dirt or particles.

* Clean your jewelry often; lotions, soaps and skin oils alter the optical properties of diamonds and gemstones, causing them to look dull.

* Seriously soiled jewelry should be cleaned professionally.

* Clean diamond jewelry with a soft brush dipped in warm water and mild detergent; rinse under running water.

* Never expose pearl jewelry to chemicals or solvents and store each piece in a soft bag.

* Don't expose colored gemstones to chemicals, solvents or ultrasonic without knowing their specific cleaning requirements. Source: Igiworldwide

Storing Jewelry

Proper jewelry storage is often overlooked. Jewelry should never be tossed into a drawer or on top of a dresser − that’s asking for scratches and damaged gems. Most jewelry pieces come in a box or pouch from the store, which is a perfect place to keep them. Sterling silver, for example, should be kept in an anti-tarnish bag or cloth. Jewelry boxes that feature individually padded slots for rings and posts for hanging necklaces and bracelets are also ideal.

Pearls and opals draw moisture from the air, so storing your opal or pearl jewelry in a dry area, such as a safe deposit box, can sometimes do more harm than good. When traveling, protect your jewelry pieces from scratches or other impact damage by padding it in a separate box or case. Source: Gia

Thinking about how do you know what jewelry works for your outfit? In this short post we’ll help by discussing 3 tips on choosing the right jewelry that can beautify, complement and add zest to your outfit.

Necklaces

Necklace
Much like clothing, necklace styles can work towards changing the viewer’s perception of your height. If you are very short and want to give the perception that you are taller than you want to choose necklaces that are longer. Necklaces that are V-shaped or Y-shaped lariat's can elongate your appearance. you want to pick necklaces that go below your boss but not pass your waist. These shapes and lengths will want your torso and make you appear taller. When choosing necklaces, you also want to think about the volume or chunkiness of the necklace. a large boned or full figured gal will want a necklace that has a little bit of volume - perhaps large chunky stones or a thick link. If you are petite, however larger jewelry may not look right on you and you may want to choose something more delicate. Source: Streetdirectory

Rings

Rings

When purchasing rings, you can have great fun - again the choices are endless from large and overwhelming to dainty and feminine. The length and size of your fingers plays an important role in what will look good. For example, long skinny fingers don't look good with huge oversized rings, yet on a woman that has long thicker fingers they look exquisite. Long nails? Short nails? it all makes a difference. Play and see what you like, and what looks good. Also, determine where you will be wearing these rings. For example, if you're working around fine fabrics, you'll not want any rings that have sharp edges that could snag. Your rings are also part of your total statement.
Although you may have a favorite designer, there's really no need to stick with just one. In fact, there's no need for the pieces to actually be designer. There are plenty of wonderful pieces on the market that are unsigned but certainly make a fashion statement. Mix and match your jewelry to give it character and a little pizazz! Source: wikiHow

Earrings

EarringsAlthough there are no set rules for choosing earrings based on hair color, if you have blonde or a more golden hair color, gold earrings may be more flattering on you than platinum. Likewise, dark haired women tend to find platinum to be more complimentary. If you have red hair, gold is striking, but you may want to venture into rose gold which I think looks stunning on most redheads. In general, if you have short hair that leaves your earlobes exposed, you can wear any earrings you choose. For long hair, the best choice is long dangling earrings or bright colors with sparkle and shine-you want them to show! However, if you are going to wear your hair up, your choices are endless.

Earrings should be fun and make a statement about who you are. Why not experiment a bit and see what earring designs work best for you? Earrings can be a fun and flattering way to enhance your wardrobe as well as your appearance. Source: Wixonjewelers

Earrings sometimes work as the fashion saviours that complements almost any outfit or look. However, your face shape and earrings have a connection which you were never aware of. Luckily, this article will cover some guide tips in choosing the right earrings that will flatter and define your features.

Below are 5 guide tips in choosing the right earrings for your face shape:

Square Face Shape

Characteristics: The width of your forehead, cheeks, and jawline will be similar.
Earrings: Earrings that are medium to long in length look amazing, and hoops will look wonderful, too. Earrings with angular or rounded edges are also great choices because they bring attention to your earrings and help soften your face’s natural angles. Source: Hollyyashil

Round Face Shape

Characteristics: If your face is widest at the cheekbones, and doesn't taper down to the chin, you have a round or circular face.
Earrings: Tuck your hair behind the ears, and flaunt a pair of behind-the-ear cuffs that take the ear cuff trend to the next level. These chunky statement pieces suit narrow faces and heart-shaped faces the most, since they lend depth and dimension. If you have a round face, look for dainty pieces. Look for golden ear cuffs to wear with ethnic or fusion outfits. Source: Timesofindia.indiatimes

Oval Face Shape

Characteristics: Oval-shaped faces feature foreheads that are as wide as the cheekbones.
Earrings: face narrows from the cheeks to the chin, creating the oval shape.
Women with oval-shaped faces look good in almost every style of earrings. However, they can create a particularly striking look by wearing oval-shaped dangling earrings. These earrings will draw attention to the face's elegant shape without adding any width or length. Women with oval faces also look stunning when wearing teardrop earrings. Much like oval dangling earrings, these pieces accentuate the face's natural shape and create a sense of symmetry or balance. Source: eBay

Diamond Face Shape

Characteristics: Where the widest part of the face is around the cheekbones; the forehead and chin are narrower than the cheekbones which stick out.
Earrings: Earrings with long lines and gentle curves to smooth the sharp lines of the cheekbones and chin. Source: Katerinaperez

Heart Face Shape

Characteristics: Those with a heart face have a tapered chin, and wider cheek bones, and angular jaw. It is similar to the inverted triangle, but with “harder lines”
Earrings: For a heart shaped face, wear inverted triangles to balance the face. Avoid earrings that taper at the bottom, and studs. Tear drops are a great shape for you! Source: Sparklyjewels.wordpress
